I look upon robots as being factory appliances. I don't find them fascinating enough to be scary. Androids are designed to look and act human, and for that reason I find them intriguing but not scary. The ones whose engineers go all out to make them look human are the creepiest. This is due to an obvious lag between appearance and movement. The movement in facial expressions and locomotion don't look human at all.
