WhatsApp free voice calling headed to iOS

MWEB TechnoZone writes: "Those who have been closely following WhatsApp developments will have already heard about, if not tested, the free voice calling feature on the Android app. Apple users have not been left out in the cold though, as whispers of the same feature reaching iOS8 keep growing louder."

The story is too old to be commented.

Must be making some of the mobile operators nervous about losing voice revenue in exchange for lower priced data revenue...

i forsee the mobile operators increasing costs for mobile data soon

They need to give data not airtime and sms's. Maybe this'll teach them.

yes -but at the same time operators have made data into a commodity.
Hence why there is no free roaming, when in actual fact it costs nothing to operators.

They know how important data is, we are all paying for it one way or another.

Also why bring it to garbage IOS first?

Usually things are the other way around, iOS first then Android. No?

Maybe 2 years ago but Android gets the first priority on most things these days.

For good reason - Last year Android topped the scales with over a million devices shipped with their operating system versus just under 200 000 with IOS.

I wonder what's the future of the mobile operators, they only offered that service and the SMS. Apps will take that away from them too. Unique identity? Apps can take that away too.

Its good question, bahadur.
