Maximum PC: Thanks to the continued advancements into HTML5, YouTube has decided to kick Adobe Flash to the curb and default to the open standard instead for playing videos. YouTube would have made the move earlier, but said there were limitations that prevented HTML5 from becoming its preferred platform -- most notable was the lack of support for Adaptive Bitrate (ABR) that allows the streaming site to show more videos with less buffering.
According to Bloomberg, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan has expressed concern regarding the potential misuse of platform content by OpenAI’s Sora, an AI-driven video creation tool.
Shaz from TL writes: “Linus Sebastian’s media company, Linus Media Group, is under fire. From ethical concerns with videos, to allegations of workplace harassment.”
If you need (or prefer) to read video content on YouTube, you have options.
Yes. I didn't realize how good HTML5 was until recently. Couldn't believe I used to suffer using Flash. Surprisingly it also cured that stuttered loading issue.
I love being able to load the entire video before watching it....like I could years ago, before Youtube decided to ruin that to save a few pennies on bandwidth.
