Former NSA Lawyer Says Blackberry Failed Because Of “Too Much Encryption”

BlackBerry has lost it relevance in the mobile markets, third quarter reports show the company having only 1% market-share. And now, Former NSA General Counsel Stewart Baker, believes he knows why BlackBerry met a disastrous end – encryption.

I still love BlackBerry, I'd wish they innovated when the rest of the world was moving on.. They would have still controlled a significant percentage of market-share... We love our privacy.. :D

BB failed mainly because they underestimate their opponents and marketed themselves to specific demographic. By time RIM(now BB) try to change their ways and do something different iOS and Android was already dominating the market.

That was one of the most grammatically incorrect articles I have read in a long time. If English is that person's first language they should be embarrassed. I had to stop reading it was so bad. The internet is great, but it only shows the glaring issues in our education system.

I have horrible grammar but there is something strange about your second sentence, ' I had to stop reading it was so bad'. I feel a comma after 'reading', might help or just adding the word 'because'.

Just remember anyone can open a blog these days. That's the sad bit.

frelyler3457d ago (Edited 3457d ago )

Haha, I hope this is sarcasm. If so, well done sir. If not, oh my that is sad. An ' is not an ", you just bracketed words with an apostrophe, not quotation marks. Also, the period in the "quote" from me should be inside the quotation marks. No need to get so defensive, some simple proof reading and a basic understanding of the English language would have fixed these problems. If this was a simple comment I wouldn't bother, but this is an article someone put on the internet for others to read. If this was turned in at the high school level the teacher would either assume you were lazy and didn't proof read, or you really believe a sentence should be constructed that way. The world is getting less and less intelligent and the internet only shines a light on the problem. Oh, and obviously you wrote the article. If not you must be related to the author because your command of English is the same as theirs.

proudly_X3458d ago

@Speed Racer, that blog is close to 3-years old.. Don't go about supporting someone who has the least idea of what he is talking about..

I thought @Frelyer was perfect, his three line comment wasn't devoid of grammatical blunders, how much more a full article.

He has never written one.. It's easy to criticize.. Fault finders have no life!

Speed-Racer3458d ago (Edited 3458d ago )

Frelyer may not be a wordsmith, but he's definitely right about the author not being the best either. Not the best written piece I've seen either. Time =/= Quality

Sashamaz3457d ago

Damn I must have hit a nerve, this dude's on a war path, you must be some kind of retired English teacher bored out of your mind. While I have nothing to do with the article or the person who wrote it I have no issues with the grammar. How do you even manager with the plethora of grammatically incorrect articles and blogs flooding the internet on a daily basis?

tekksin3458d ago

encryption? that's a strange way to spell buttons.

kryteris3458d ago (Edited 3458d ago )

if that means no android/play store integration then yup. also to say that they were lazy, and not innovative is complete bs rant.
