With the Sony Xperia Z3 having failed to follow the LG G3 down the QHD display route, Sony has suggested adding a 2K screen to a phone is not worth the hit to battery life.
Sony is spot on as battery life is more important for users.
It seems the manufacturers know how important battery life is to everybody but continues to ignore it. I was going to upgrade my Lumia 925 for the 930 but the 1mm extra thickness isn't for a better battery rather QI touch charging. I'd rather they said bigger battery so I can actually use the GPS tools etc etc all day and still have some power left!
I think 1080p for smartphones are enough. going over to the likes of 2k or 4k doesn't really have a significant benefit on viewing experience at all given the small screen size. not to forget the battery technology which is still lacking.
Finally. Now let's just hope they will deliver
This is good news, I hope battery life is the next major focus for companies. Look at it this way, my new Nexus 5 is using the same Lithium-ion technology as my old Nokia 3330 had from over a decade ago, it's ridiculous.
Battery life on my ZTE Nubia z7 is fine it sports a 2k 5.5 inch screen with a 2.5 GHz quad core so.
It all depends on what's your definition of "fine" is.
