Well so far it mentions trauma patients unless they juat mean a damage body and not its philosophical meaning.

Every one should get a second chance at life since it can potentially inspire change

Let me get this straight, I have a doctorate. I may have a bit more money now that I've worked my ass off than most people, does that give me the right to live and the person next to me to die because they cant pay for this new method should both of us need it?

No my friend your logic is flawed and I m sad to say like many thinkers alike, representative of what is truly wrong in this modern fucked up society, full of self-entitled pricks we leave in.

Would I pay to get this treatment if need be? Yes, absolutely, anybody would provided they can afford to.

What should be emphasized here is that the people who developed this new method should, in the long run, focus on its widespread availability and affordability, so that the poor guy I mentioned earlier can be treated and live to tell about it.

OT: I truly believe that this "suspended animation" method will provide more than enough time for MDs to save someone, leading to more loved ones getting home by the end of the day and with less permanent damage.

Additionally, this is the foundation for a solution regarding crew preservation in deep space traveling where extremely long distances need extremely long travel times especially when one takes into account the abysmal progress we make in space propulsion drives/engines.

Someone with a doctorate should ABSOLUTELY be considered above other people. You can't keep all 7 billion people alive forever and there needs to be a measure for who gets what over who.

It's nice that you're trying to be noble, but medicine is expensive and time consuming; it will never get spread thin enough to save absolutely everyone that needs it. It's mankind's fault for trying to sustain a population that no creature of our magnitude of wastefulness, destruction of environment, and privilege should ever attempt to sustain.

With this technology combined with other methods, could help us enter a state of near "Suspended Animation"

If we where to drop our core temperature to about 74 degrees F "to the point of near death" to trigger hibernation and lower our oxygen intake by half to slow down our resting metabolism and heart rate to a crawl, then maybe we would get similar results from the movie "Alien" for deep space voyages!

You all realize this is only for like 2-4 hours right and would only be used after a traumatic injury.

Lying in a tube for 30 years in suspended animation is still science fiction.

Its actually up to 5 hours per the article, but yes, of course being in suspended animation for 30 years is still science fiction.

If this is possible now and becomes successful for humans as well, I can see the technology, methods used, etc. be expanded over time to allow suspended animation for that long.

If you would guess, how long do you think we would be able to have the knowledge, technology, etc. perfected to even attempt things such as space exploration?

What I'd like to know if ever successfully done sometime in the near future is..

What the patient experienced during that " time in limbo ".

Are we going to hear and read about comments like - victim/s tell about having an out-of-body experience, floating and seeing their own body? Maybe able to see light or darkness at the end of the tunnel? See relatives and loved ones who have passed away?
