BBC- A federal judge in New York has ruled authorities can seize travellers' laptops at the border without citing a legal reason, suspecting the traveller of a crime, or explaining themselves in any way. What happens if they take yours?
Without giving a damn reason for it, not a good idea.
I'm sure it won't last. Bad calls happen sometimes with judges. Being a physical object (unlike legal gray area, like data that the NSA collects), the Fourth Amendment will be an easy call when it is challenged.
ODDS ARE IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING WORTH HIDING THEY ALREADY KNOW ABOUT IT. THEY'LL JUST USE THIS AS ANOTHER ESCUSE TO BRING YOU IN PRIVACY IS DEAD
