convince ? more like force feed it to people that don't want it.
I have a feeling this will backfire on Microsoft. I know many people personally who hate Win 8 and may switch to Mac or Linux over this.
Last month I asked a Best Buy rep if they still sell W7 =(
I don't want to used W8. Especially after trying it while I was in the Best Buy
Win7 is the new WinXP
Win8 is like vista
gonna stick to 7 until Win9 is released because as a general rule of thumb, Micro releases a shitty win after a good win and a good win after a shitty windows and this been happening since win95 era.
I can see people having issues with Win8 but I don't think many will hop over to Apple or Linux. Apple computers are generally more expensive than PCs and for people on budgets that alone will deter their transition. With Linux the main issue is software compatibility with office and school programs / documents. There are solutions but unless someone does their research or is already savvy they won't want to go that route.
My new computer ran Win8 until I upgraded it to Win8.1. I like both though it took me about a full week to get used to it. I actually prefer the 'Metro UI' over the old setup now.
I'll try to paraphrase another's explanation of the UI, which really clicked with me. Imagine you're running an older WinOS. Imagine clicking the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu. Now click, drag, drop the 'Start' menu on the desktop and stretch it horizontally across the screen, that's basically Windows 8.
