Doesn't affect me, I'm getting it to play games

MP3 was promised in a future update. Not DLNA. They're still in talks with it. And who knows when the update is released? It could be next year for all we know.

People tend to forget...

Way back in November of 2006, the PS3 launched and was bare bones basic. Yeah, it had mp3 support and you could rip CD's to your HDD...but that was about it. I was a DAY ONE PS3 customer and I remember, we didnt even have the ability to use wallpapers, much less themes. The PS Store didnt even exist on day one, friends list was still being worked on and was revised several times, video playback support was bare and minimum, the XMB went thru a few changes.

So I pretty much expected the same thing, this time around with the PS4. Sony wanted to make sure the console was primed for gaming, first and foremost. it's likely that, just as with the PS3...the PS4 will need a series of firmware updates, adding stuff here and there, before the PS4 gets up to where it should be, with BOTH gaming and media. My girlfriend was pissed because she found out it wouldnt be able to do everything on day one, too. Told her you just gotta be patient and let it evolve over time. It's not going to be able to do everything at launch. Even after the first 2 firmware updates, it's still not gonna be able to do everything. This is a process that takes several updates to finally get the momentum going.

So to everyone, I say...enjoy your PS4 for what it can do at launch and be patient with Sony. Everything else will come down the pipeline AFTER launch. It's just how it goes with consoles. The XBox One will be no different. Theyre gonna be faced with the same issues...if not more.

Granted when the update does roll out, I hope they allow for media formats to used externally AND internally.
