Microsoft's Bumbled Surface Strategy Generated Just $853 Million in Revenue

Maximum PC: Maybe Microsoft should have listened to its hardware partners when they pissed and moaned about the Redmond outfit deciding to build its own hardware. Acer was especially outspoken, warning Microsoft on several occasions that competing in the hardware space is a whole different ballgame than software, but those warnings fell on deaf ears and now Microsoft is paying the price.

Microsoft, like the rest of the manufactures are expecting to build a brand, with brand loyalty off just one product. There needs to be surface 2, and 3 and then maybe customers will see a matured and reliable product that feels like it is there to stay. They had a good product, but not the best. Make like apple, and relentless refine your item until customers feel they have something they can take pride in owning.
