(Reuters) - Japan's Renesas Electronics Corp will decide in fiscal 2013 whether to sell its loss-making mobile chip business, the company said on Tuesday.
DualShockers: Sony's intention to purchase the Renesas Electronics semiconductor manufacturing plant at Tsuruoka (that produces the DRAM chip of the Wii U), in the Japanese Yamagata prefecture has been rumored for a while, and the house of PlayStation finally officially announced with a press release that the purchase has been finalized and a definitive agreement with Renesas has been signed. Interestingly enough, the deal includes a clause that could bring Sony to work for Nintendo at least for a while.
DualShockers: There may be more trouble on the horizon for the already slow-selling Wii U due to the closure of a factory manufacturing a vital component for the console.
it'd be a bigger problem if the Wii U was selling in greater numbers.
at the rate it's selling they might be able to ride this out until they get another source and/or a redesign.
they'll need to get tit sorted before they start releasing the big titles though.
if they'd just get a new Zelda game on the system, that would boost sales.
a remake of Windwaker is not gonna sell the Wii U.
