Th3 Chr0nic4408d ago

yea I get like 12 mbps and luck if i get 1 mbps up and i pay near $60 a month after recent price being raised.

Cryptcuzz4408d ago

Here in San Jose, CA, I get 21 MB with Comcast for about $60 a month.

I would switch instantly if this service or Google's recent 1 GB service is available in my area.

Rip-Ridah4408d ago (Edited 4408d ago )

Uh, u better take advantage of the free upgrade Comcast is offering for customers in your area. You get double your speed. I already have the 105 Extreme package 105 down 20 up, but you should get upgraded to 50 down 10 up. You have to go get the Docs 3.0 modem. I'll try to get u a link in a minute...

**EDIT** http://comcastcalifornia.me...

Cryptcuzz4408d ago

Thanks a lot for that man! I didn't know there was a free upgrade, will definitely check this out. Hopefully I'm not too late and can take advantage of this free offer.

Its not 2 GB by a long shot, but I'll take any free upgrade I can especially from a service I'm already paying for.

Thanks again for pointing this out to me.

Rip-Ridah4407d ago (Edited 4407d ago )

No problem man. The more people with better & faster internet speeds, the better. Pass this info on to other Comcast users if you will.

kingPoS4408d ago

I get the feeling It'll be 2020 before even 39% of North America is on fiber. Never mind the cable tycoons who say it's not needed yet.

RandomDude6554408d ago

"Never mind the cable tycoons who don't want it to happen"

Fixed.

At&t, comcast, et al. are making a killing charging high prices on outdated lines. Why would they change?

kingPoS4408d ago (Edited 4408d ago )

Hearing news like this really hits to home how far NA is being left behind.
To the less greedy goes the benefits. No such thing here in America.

It would be nice if our US mega corporations as a whole weren't so self serving. But that's as likely as dollar notes being stricken as legal tender following a switch to using real silver in currency.
(like it should have been done)

mpctips4408d ago

The cynic in me can't help but think if this were offered in the U.S., it would cost 10x as much and cap uploads at 256kbps. I kid, of course. Kinda...

GetSnooked4408d ago

After seeing so many of the " I make $1239580 a month" comments, my troll senses have gone hay-wire in this comment section.

nix4408d ago

in India you get 12Mbps for around 25 dollars... yeah.. it's a huge market so the competition is fierce.

Doctor_Freeman4408d ago

Could you imagine downloading games with that kind of speed?!

I could download my whole Steam library in less than an hour.

ajax174407d ago (Edited 4407d ago )

So let me get this straight, it's 200x faster than my internet and only costs twice as much!!! But that installation fee is crazy!
