Another one of those PS Vita click bait articles from a website that rarely reports about PS Vita only when it's bringing them clicks.

Please, Sony isn't that stupid to build another hand held. PSP was a failure, as was the Vita. Not due to the hardware, but mismanagement by Sony. Any new attempt at a handheld would be eaten by the Switch and 3DS market, not to mention iOS and Android gaming.

As much as i love my PS4 and Sony i don't think Sony should ever make another console like the Vita because of the piss poor support they gave it. I also own PSVR but don't really use it as not much to actually use on it. But my guess is Sony will do with VR as they did with Vita.

They've tried the handheld market for years now, it just doesn't work for Sony. Not enough older gamers use handhelds. Most come home from work, college, etc. and want to sit on the couch and play a console. I have the Vita and was no exception. Played it here and there but way more of my time was obviously spent on my PS3/4 or PC.

While the vita is an awesome machine it never had an awesome year of exclusives like the Psp. 2010 was my Psp year. Persona 3 portable, Metal gear solid peace walker, kingdom hearts birth by sleep and valkyria chronicles 2. If Sony can release a new handheld that matches the switch power, uses any memory cards and keeps the games at 39.99 then they might have a chance.

Only a matter of time before Sony & or Microsoft does their own Switch & not some stupid handheld where you cant play the Console games

I can't do it again. The PSP had a short stock of worthwhile games, but it's not worth going down this road with Sony again. They just can't support their handhelds

The current state of Vita doesn't necessarily reflect on future prospects of a follow-up.. Sony's support for Vita has always been lackluster. Dedicated handheld gaming devices are a tough sell due to the popularity of mobile phones and their increasing processor power. And while Nintendo has done pretty well with 2DS/3DS and now the Switch, it's not the booming market it was expected to be.. for that reason I see Sony letting the handheld market go.

I really don't think that it's in Sony's best interests to create another portable. They are much stronger in the home console market, and they find more success overall when they focus on one product instead of two.

If they did create a new portable console I probably wouldn't buy it at launch. I was a Vita day one owner, and I feel rather burned by the platform. It just didn't have the games I was expecting.

We just confirmed the last day or 2 how Vita has more exclusives than Xbone. But yeah its doomed lol.

Vita was fun, I really enjoyed No More Heroes and a few others.. A shame we may not see a successor considering the entire world is going mobile rightfully so.

..If Nintendo can bring console quality to a handheld, I can't see why Sony can't.

A base platform for consoles, a, "pro", platform for enthusiasts, and a lower resolution handheld that plays them all on the go..

Seems kinda obvious to me. Bring all games to each platform in the generation, don't split the game library like the 3ds/Wii U did.

I don't think this opinion is correct. The Vita did very well for itself from a gaming perspective.

The Vita has been sent off to die ever since it launched, yet it is still here and it is still getting games.

a new PS handheld will never be able to compete with switch, and with Sony supporting VR now(barely,about much as they supported the vita) they don't have the manpower to make games for 3 systems. Also the handheld console market simply isn't big enough for two systems.

My future hope now rests on a viable Win10 handheld with Steam. Games and saves would be completely portable. Something like that would probably move me from PS4/Vita to become a PC Gamer again...

With the switch being a hybrid sytem both a console and a handheld there really is no need for handheld gaming systems.anymore.

The problem with making a new handheld is how will it compete with a smart phone? Nobody is going to buy a full price game when F2P has already taken over the general market.

I got a PSP late in its life, it was already basically a success by the time I got a PSP-2000 model, seeing as it was an improvement on PSP-1000 but PSP-3000 had drawbacks due to screen limitations. I got it for MGS Peacewalker and God of War Ghost of Sparta mostly. I bought a Vita at launch with hype because I knew the visual prowess would make it a PS2.5 whereas the PSP was like a PS1.5 in terms of visual capability. I got the Vita presuming Sony would get an equally-capable library as PSP had, but unfortunately that never happened, there was no 'Must have' really on the Vita, no MGS especially.

I think what really hurt the Vita was blocking it off from the modding community, the more modders and the more who'd have bought it, even if it hurts software sales? The more hardware is out there - the more third-party companies would be willing to try to make games for the demographic that exist, but since Vita was limited, expensive, and had expensive cartridges? There were many flaws that made it inefficient, both in cost and in the lack of broadness, scope, that it'd be unable to reach certain customers who just can't see the cost being worth it.

I bet they come up with something. Plenty of room for another HH. Loved the vita, will love their next device.

At this point I could care less.Sony stop supporting the Vita with first party titles for over 2 years now my Vita collects dust.I don't trust Sony anymore when it comes to handhelds but I love & support their consoles.

I dont understand why people dont like handhelds. There are some truly amazing games on them.. That being said, every handheld should be able to connect to the TV in some way while your home like the switch if more ever do come out.. Sony needs to back out of this market. As much as i like the vita, the switch is much better. If only it had the same 3rd party support though

Nothing in this article tells me why a new handheld would not be happening. Yes, the Vita has no more Sony dev support, doesn't mean they won't try again....

My Vita's still alive & kicking, massive RPG backlog while I play hunters, musou, point & click adventures, platformers & other RPG's. Sony also has a lot of great sales which has helped build my library.
Good indies are the icing on the cake.

The button layout of the Vita is great, the only thing I don't care for is the rear touchpad.
It was disappointing when a lot of titles had been cancelled that I was looking forward to, but there were still games for me to buy.

I wouldn't mind a Vita 2, since it'd be powerful enough to run the engines the Vita couldn't handle, so I'd maybe be able to play the games that were canned on the Vita due to power issues.
Sony's handling of the Vita isn't really a sign as to whether or not they'll release another handheld, I think if they didn't make one it'd be more to do with their finances & not wanting to take the risk while the PS4 is doing so well.

PS. People have been saying the Vita is dead since 2012, look it up.
5 years later & we're still getting titles like Ys VIII.

This is a shame, I really like the Vita. I get that smartphones are now nearly as powerful, but I'm still yet to see a smartphone game that's up to the standard of a proper full-fledged mobile console release.

Hope they get to continue to make Ninja and Samurai games under them.

Since Acquire would have to work with From Software to make another Tenchu, I can see them making Way of the Samurai or Shinobido. Both were great game series. And Shinobido is pretty much Tenchu in the look and feel of the game. Especially the PSP game.

Even a new IP would be fine.

Yes! I replayed the game back in 2020 on PS4 and got the Platinum Trophy.

For old folks we don't care that they graphics are outdated, but younger people may have an adjustment period. However I believe the art design, music, and overall enjoyment of the game will eventually hook in younger gamers if they stick with it.

Yes FF7 was one of the games that help put Playstation on the map. I still play the old FF7, FF8, Xenogears, Parasite Eve, Dino Crisis. Just because they are old games doesn't mean a person can't still have fun with them.

It most certainly is. One of the best game. Idda recommended it before playing remake personally. So you know what actually going on and can see certain things.
