The problem is AMDs only killer GPU right now is the RX 570.

It’s undisputed you the best GPU value of its class with its level of performance for just $150 along with the AMD Capcom game bundle (2 or 3 games free).

Meanwhile the NVIDIA camp has better performance everywhere else along with a much better used market right now, so this makes sense.

AMD is banking on Navi to keep them in the game, which could be big for them if they can g...

They’re actually possible, but these website need to stop ignorantly comparing these TFLOPS from AMD with NVIDIA GPUs.

A 12TF GPU from AMD would be insignificantly weaker than the Vega 64, which is weaker than a 8TF GTX 1080, and much weaker than that 11TF 1080 ti, and 14TF 2080 Ti.

10 - 12 TFLOP consoles are extremely possible on Navi which is a brand new architecture and fabrication node. 2020 - 2021.

Good. Maybe now we’ll get prices for the consumer that make sense.

1. They cost too much.

2. The vast majority don’t care about ray tracing when it drops performance, especially with the launch performance drops.

3. The upgrade from the 1000 series GPUs wasn’t a large enough technological leap for people to leave that generation behind.

These cards are for people looking to jump to Raytracing ASAP, people who want the newest cards regardless of price, companies making games, and reviewers. For the oth...

So it's practically a Titan X in performance give or take, depending on the clock speeds it can get closer to a 1070. This card needs to be priced at $199.

1919d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Gamingunited the 2080 is the same price in many places now.

On its own the Vega 7 is a good card, and the HBM is amazing, but its value takes a hit with that price and the competition offing a slightly better GPU for the same price, that has features for better graphics, or even greater performance in select games.

Intel will likely have the single core win with their new release and possibly get their core/thread counts on par with AMD with the move to 10nm, although I don't expect a huge difference between the CPUs, until Intels moves over to 7nm as well. I'd say we're looking at around 10% - 15% more performance.

However, this battle will come down to price. Intel can't be 10% better, while costing $100 more, for once we might get CPU prices back down to reasonabl...

The 8700k was your upgrade then, it was $300 ($100 below your minimum budget) on Black Friday, and offers 2 more cores and 4 more threads, with a 10% single core performance boost, 20% quad-core performance boost, and nearly 70% multi-core performance boost.

You could have sold your 6700k for at least $100 - $150, and got the 8700k for basically $150 - $200.

But Ryzen 3700x should have single core performance at minimum on par with the 8700k, and offer 2 ...

Single core performance would at worst be on par with the Intel 8700k to even compete with the i9-900k. Which is pretty much what each version of Ryzen has done to catch up to NVIDIA.

Ryzen 1700 single core = Intel 4000
Ryzen 2700 single core = Intel 6000
Ryzen 3700 single core = Intel 8000

I assume the clock speeds on the Ryzen CPU were higher than the Intel's stock speeds, but the point is, with Zen 2 you can get $600 Intel perfor...

1. Zen 2 aka Ryzen 3000 (has a lot to prove, could upset the current balance of the CPU / APU market)
2. Navi GPUs (great performance at a great price, AMD has a chance of winning the mid-range market)
3. RTX 300 / 3000 series or steep price cuts for the RTX 2000 series (looking forward to the RTX 300 series more)
4. Intel Sunny Cove (Still the Single-Core performance leaders, backed by more cores / threads)
5. Intel GPU details (how much, potential perform...

The Ryzen 3000 series will be a game-changer for AMD in both aspects of a CPUs main purpose.

The single-core performance should put them on par with Intel's 7000 series at least and quite possibly the 8000 series, giving them a nice boost in single core applications and gaming. Intel will still be ahead, but the gap will be nearly pointless especially with the price gap between the two (Ryzen 2700x $279 vs i7 9700k $369).

Then the multi-threaded perf...

NVIDIA is really banking on DLSS to make the 1100 and 2000 series GPUs pull a performance turnaround since RTX simply isn't ready, and won't be until NVIDIA rolls out their 7nm GPUs.

The 2060 should perform above a 1070 in standard games, and closer to a 1070 Ti with DLSS.

The big question is whether the 1100 series will have DLSS. If not we're looking at enhanced versions of their 1000 series counterparts. If they do, then NVIDIA might be...

Based on the leaked specs it's unlikely, unless they're talking about the 2060 using DLSS in the same game.

The leaked specs show the GPU would be slightly behind the 1070 in TFLOPS, but like all Turing cards even with less TFLOPS they perform better than Pascal cards with slightly higher specs. However, the 1070 Ti is a good deal better, but DLSS would be enough to push the 2060 ahead of it. The problem is DLSS isn't readily available, so this claim comes wit...

Hmm, more than likely performs on par with the 750 ti at around 20w (aka a 1/3 of the current 750 ti power draw).

Making it a solid entry level GPU for laptops.

They have no choice, but to release these cards, because they’ve given AMD free reign to completely dominate the low and mid range market as soon as they decided to stop production of the GTX 1000 series to force those looking for upgrades to go with RTX 2000.

AMD has the 570, 580, and 590 ranging from $150 - $250 and offering the best price : performancethus overall value. These cards are likely to remain the best value for as they are expected to drop to $120 (570), $150...

The 9700k is going to be the better chip, even if slightly so.

Generally speaks pure cores perform better than threads in like for like CPU architecture. So I’m multithreaded task the 9700k should take a minor lead in clock for clock speeds (likely very minor).

That being said the 8700k is going to be a much better value, since it’ll offer similar performance and soon be $50 - $100 cheaper depending on the retailer heading into the holiday season.

If you have a 1080 Ti, you wouldn't be looking to upgrade to this to being with, you'd be looking at the RTX 2080 ti, which would be 30% - 50% more powerful than the current 1080 Ti if all the GPUs scale the same.

The RTX series is a solid upgrade in like for like models.

2080 Ti >>> 1080 Ti
2080 > 1080 Ti
2070 > 1080
2060 < 1070
2050 < 1060

I disagree. PC gaming enthusiast shouldn't be below a 1060, but for many gamers the 1050 and even lower GPUs are the most affordable performers in their region, and sometimes it's significantly cheaper and easier for them to have a old but decent pre-built PC where they can just pop in a 1050 and game a solid settings, then it is to try building an entire PC.

The more people gaming and the easier the entry cost the better the gaming industry does as a whole, which ...

Apple and Samsung still make great phones, and the problem is like you said the average consumer will 90% of the time buy one of those devices based on brand alone.

On the premium side Apple and Samsung dominate, and there's nothing anyone can really do at this point to stop them unless a huge backlash happens like a global security hack (since an exploding battery still didn't stop Samsung).

As you said advertising will help for sure, but the onl...
