Coming in at a $40 price point (!!!) Kingdom Hearts III: Re:Mind offers an 80% recycled campaign, a boss rush mode, and some other trash.
The fight with Yozora in Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind could be the best boss fight in gaming history.
If only I could catch the DLC on sale... I just don't like the $30 price point on it.
EDIT: Wow, literally just checked after posting this and it's on sale lol... Should have checked beforehand I suppose. As a side note, calling it one of the best in gaming history is a tall order. I'm curious what other people thought about it. As I didn't want to do much research on it until I actually played the DLC
I still like the kh2 sephiroth battle the best but oh boy was it fun to figure out how to beat yozora on your own. Took me at least 50 tries to beat him lol.
I mean all of the limit cut boss fights were exceptional. The base game had awful boss fights, so it was refreshing to get an entire DLC based on boss fights. It was severely overpriced, but still amazing if you want a challenge.
Almost two years after the game was released, the Kingdom Hearts III soundtrack has finally been officially released.
With the Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind content on the Xbox One, it is time to reflect on how one can complete what it has to offer.
It recycles too much content to justify its price. $30-$40 is expansion pack cost territory
For $30-$40, which is half the price of the game and 2/3 the price for the concert version it’s absurd how much content is recycled.
This easily should’ve been $15 like with WoFF’s Maxima upgrade. Not even FFXV’s Season Pass or Royal Pack costed as much as this and they contained 100% new unrecycled content.
What’s Square Enix thinking selling this DLC within the same price range as FFXIV’s Heavensward, Stormblood and Shadowbringers expansions?
After FFXV is anyone surprised
Best thing to do is don't support this or ANY of Square's future DLC plans, I mean it's a shame we have to support the multiple "episodes" the VII remake is going to get but lets be real no one is going to miss out on that, so the best thing we can do is focus on any dlc / expansions they do for their future releases, especially the Avengers
Hopefully if enough people just vote with their wallets, Final Fantasy XVI will be something amazing, hell maybe the next remake like VIII in the far (far far far) future might be condensed to one game, who knows what you can achieve.
What dafuq Square Enix?
- Shadow of the Tomb Raider’s DLC had a $20 bundle to unlock everything in the DE version.
- NieR: Automata’s DLC was $10
- World of Final Fantasy’s DLC was $16
- Deus Ex: Mankind Divided’s Season Pass was $20
- Final Fantasy XV’s DLC was both $25 individually for the Season Pass & Royal Pack
What’s Square Enix thinking selling Re:Mind at such an exuberant price? For that amount you could get one of the HD ReMix collections or even one of Square Enix’s own other budget titles.
The only thing more egregious than this DLC being overpriced is how so much of it should’ve been in the base game, especially considering how much content in this DLC is recycled. Similar sentiment goes towards Pokémon Sword & Shield’s upcoming Expansion Passes.
I’ve seen various articles praising how these titles are bucking their series tradition of reselling the same game with new content in favor of selling you $30 DLC. However they tend to neglect how much of the content within the base game of the latest release in their respective franchise has less content than previous installments despite releasing on more capable hardware that could easily contain more content on its initial release.
I’m not a fan of selling consumers a title that feels lacking compared to its predecessors, and then after the title breaks series sales records the publisher announces some paid DLC that’s half the price of the actual game for things that should’ve been there day one and we as the consumers are supposed to be happy that they’re approaching this with “modern sensibilities.”
Not that I’d prefer the alternative, but how is that kind of practice much more of an upgrade over reselling you the same game at full price with more content, ala Persona 5: The Royal? At least the base game of P5 contained so much content it didn’t need DLC to plug in what was sorely missing in its initial release. Same could be said for the previous base mainline Pokémon & Kingdom Hearts titles before S&S and KH3.
Well they can do whatever they want with dlc and charge whatever since kingdom hearts games dont come often. They know this and can take advantage of it. ReMind is so obviously an overpriced cashgrab.
I fear the same will happen pretty badly with ffviiR too, I mean we already know its already split into parts lol, im guessing only around 20hrs of finishing per part too, each $60 and probably paid dlc for costumes and maybe even story episodes....smh.
