So a game "journalist" doesn't have time to play games... Explains a lot about the current state of game journalism. They should spend more time actually PLAYING games instead of writing about what tiny detail about a game offends their frail little sensitivities.

You don't have to rush through the game, if anything your play through will benefit from a slower play style as other players populate the world with bridges, generators, safe houses, etc., etc.

I have the time, but not spending it on this game. He took all the things I don't like about gaming and put them into 1 game.

Manage your time, an hour or two of play after work, and 4 on the weekend.

Now, the gameplay itself is an absolute and utter piece of sh*t, can't remember the last time a game frustrated me that much, i fu*king hate it. But on the other hand, the game world is absolutely stunning, the imagination that was poured into the story and lore is second to none. That's why i'm just storming through the missions to get to the good story parts.

I spent 100 hours and i have to agree somewhat. Also no secrets, not even somekind of secret cave in the mountains for example, almost no bosses in game, same fight redone 3 times. 8/10 from me. Slightly disapointed

and still people spend 1000+ hours on looter shooter grind...

"Boring" Its a sentiment shared by many dude. I agree with the sentiment about this game. But I also get that like those nerds among nerds, they need love too. So games like eve online and this game will have its fans.

Like none of us had time to complete Witcher 3. Or the dark souls games. Or Skyrim. All of these are longer than DS.

I respect that you feel like this game wastes your time due to the mechanics you find inherently boring, but I would like to say that for me personally those same game mechanics are very satisfying and calming comparatively to something faster paced. I guess it has something to do with mindfulness, or presence, in which I am required to look at a detailed map and plan my route, manage my time/gear, and walk over beautiful terrain (yes, while balancing). It gives me the same sense of sanctification as a good hike but without the exercise and with a compelling world outside of my own.

I would say, since you are a huge Kojima fan like most of us, that you could if you wanted to reattempt to enjoy the game, but I implore you that you would need to take a different perspective and different expectations into the experience. Possibly one that is meditative and reflective, were the simple act of walking takes you with every step to exactly where you wanted to be.

When I'm busy with work etc and don't have much time I play fifa or couple of fights in mk11. It was like that before DS and now after DS. But as soon as I know I'll play for couple of hours I enjoy DS. 34 hrs in and loving everything about the game.

I love people when they think they have the right to speak for everyone. Speak for yourself buddy I'm enjoying the game. Not perfect for sure but there is something unique about this game and story that does actually have me hooked. I'm not some huge Kojima fanboy either. I played and beat the first Metal gear and only played a few hours of 2 and 5. I'm far from a diehard here and I'm saying I truly like the game. If you hate it personally that's great but you cannot tell me everyone does.

People spend hours days and years not to mention thousands of dollars on repetitive boring as hell fortnight and call of duty, but you wanna pretend nobody has time for Death Stranding? I for one work 60 hours a week and still have tons of time to play. So what are you on? Cause I want some.

I love this game even though I'm experiencing it in small doses.
I work Full Time and when I get home I'm dead tired most of the time but I still manage to get maybe 2 or 3 hours in before going to sleep, I may wake up early before going to work and have an hour or so before having to head out and I'll play some more then.
Surely its not the same when you have responsibilities and you can't just dump all your time into the game and beat it in a few days or so, but I mean ... this is something mature gamer's know how to deal with.

The game isn't going anywhere, so enjoy it at your own pace.

God of war 2018 took me like 45 hrs (I explored a lot). I'm also the guy who says he doesn't have time for JRPGs anymore. It's a bit hypocritical on my part. I've spent almost 45 hours on death stranding and still enjoy it. I'm only in ch. 4. I had to take time off of work to sink real time into it, but I'm ok with that.

Horrible title considering plenty of people have made time for it. And I'm getting tired of people cherry picking what game that lasts 40+ hours they have time for because most people didn't complain about this with RDR2 but dang if it's too long to spend the same amount of time in Death Stranding and AC Odyssey.

None of us have time for this bs article, which is why I didn't read it. The game is excellent. If you can't handle focusing for three seconds, go play Call of Duty and leave mature people alone.

Acquired ADD and the constant requirement for a dopamine fix every few seconds as a result of constant overstimulation (social media, too many fast paced games, etc) will make it difficult for many people to dig into the brilliant layers DS has to offer. I'm loving it, it's such a nice contrast as I also work through BL3, Nioh, and Divinity right now. The variety is great.

Below is my opinion. It may not match yours but that's okay. :)

So disappointed. I was so waiting for something better. The story develops unnecessarily slow. Not all stories should go fast paced, specially when you don't know how to tell it right, sometimes is better to go slow. But this game is just unnecessarily slow. Is painfully slow. Yes, it gets better, but it does not get much better either. Is more like, oh look, it's okay now. More than, OH SHIT, THIS IS GREAT. It's not even engaging, or intriguing. It's just confusing, slow, and more confusing. At the end I was playing it more for curiosity than interest. They introduce terms in the game that they don't really take the time to explain. I mean, I understand somethings you can figure it out, but they just don't tell you, they go dialogues and dialogues talking about stuff they assume you know already lol. By the time you figured it out, you probably forgot half of the dialogue that past.

I do have time to invest in the game. And the game does require to you to have it. And in my opinion, that sucks. It sucks it requires so much time for you. But is not time of deep exploration and discovery. Is time of boring nonsensical missions that are easier to go through because of the world, which is pretty empty. Chapter 6 makes things go better, but by that time my opinion of the game was settled in: It sucked.

It hurt in the bottom of my gamer girl heart because I love Kojima and his previous work. But Death Stranding is a different thing. I can see that there will be people who will enjoy it, just like there I people that enjoy crack cocaine. But that doesn't mean crack cocaine is good. Just like Death Stranding. It sucks.

Some parts of the game are above average, sure. But way too ridiculous for a walking simulator. They forgot the fun, they lost he pace, and they ruined what could be otherwise a once of a lifetime game.

Now, all my hopes are in fucking CD Projekt RED with Cyberphunk 2077.
