Breath of the Wild #5? I unlocked every shrine and collected 650+ Koroks but that is absolute balderdash bullpocky. I wouldnt put it as top 5 games this generation and I still think its deserving of a 9+

This list has a severe Nintendo bias.

Mario 64 was the best Mario game imo.

Also BOTW being anywhere near the top 10 let alone top 5 is laughable.

This list is AWFUL

I mean you have Rise of the Tomb Raider over the classic, actual Tomb Raider games, Minecraft so high and Assassins Creed IV Black Flags over Assassins Creed II

I bet a lot of people read things like this from IGN, polygon etc just out of morbid curiosity. Like seeing a gruesome car crash on the side of the road.

This gonna be a touchy subject because it's nearly impossible to have ppl agree on what should be the top 100 games.
Personally, the top 100 games should be rename to 100 must-play games (then I guess the majority could agree with the list).

Now my opinion on the list.

IF "How much did this game impact us" is true
then how come...

- ) No Fifa game (or sports game)? I get it, EA is evil but the FIFA franchise has been dominant since the Genesis days. to not acknowledge one of their games is basically ignoring one of the biggest selling franchises of all time.

- ) No Wii Sports. This game is synonymous with WII and it's the most played game on the system. The game is still quite fun today.

- Ign is proving that media Bias does exist when reviewing a game and awarding GOTY Cause where the 2007 GOTY? (Hey COD and Bioshock are on the list)
What about super Mario Odyssee?)

AND most importantly

- FU # 1 I'm sorry but no (I fail to see how a game that has removed stuff compared to SMB3 can be better) but if it was true then #2 should be without a shadow of a doubt: Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (the best version)
Back in 1991, the game was going head to head against Mario and prompt the famous GENESIS DOES what Nintendon't.
Also, a lot of reviewers and critics found Sonic a better game compared to Mario back in the day

Every generation has its top 10, let alone those that are console specific, I don't think you can be totally objective with these lists, having played the majority of these games and more since 1979, I really don't see how you can compare them, some are classics and are still replayable most simply aren't, ask any child about the play mechanics of some of the earlier titles and they would have find it incredulous that we only had 3 lives and had to start all over again each time we died, let alone how the older game looks on modern large sets and projectors.

No 3D fighting game?. At least put Virtua Fighter 1 on the list. And racing genre is represented by Burnout? It's more a car-crashing game than an actual racing one, why not Gran Turismo or Outrun?. And even i'm not a fan, they should put Devil May Cry as a father of true hack and slash action games.

I respect other's opinion, but the list should be "IGN's 100 most favorite games". This is an insult to gaming journalism.

Too many Halo games, and those MMORPGs don't belong in there IMHO. It's a classic list all around.

You will never agree on a objective list of 'greatest games' so it seems churlish to condemn IGN for their selections. I'd rather see it as a celebration of great games and treat it as fun to see how my own personal list would compare.

Games that would definitely be included in my personal top 10 would include:

The Last of Us
Bloodborne
Bioshock
Uncharted 2
Mario Galaxy 2
Spelunky

Let it sink in there #1 game is not even #1 in respect to its franchise. They got fortnite above final fantasy 7 and Horizon didnt even chart. For gods sake pokemon go is on here but not Horizon.

Great list! Botw and link to the past in appropriate spots... Mario world was a special Game, not my favorite but really well done.

Dark Cloud 2 isn't on the list, Persona 4 Golden, MGS4, FFIX, KH1, Bayonetta, DMC3, FF Tactics, FFXIV which is superior to every western MMO.

The top 50 are pretty good picks but then I got to Fable 2 and it made me question the entire list.

Final Fantasy VII barely cracking the Top 100 is just plain wrong. Wrong, as in factually inaccurate. Did they just pull names out of a hat? I can't even begin to take this list seriously.

I don't disagree with the #1 game at all. It's easily still the best SMB game and has aged better than those that came after. I would have put Bloodborne a bit higher than it is though but hey, opinions.
