I can't wait for Gears 5 and I'm a huge fan fan of the series. It has been the sole reason for me to even have an Xbox but this is a stretch.

It might be. I haven't seen anything from Death Stranding yet that screams GOTY or even makes me want to buy it. Aside from those 2 there really haven't been many big games. The Outer Worlds will probably be like 85 metacritic instead of like 90 something due to some jank. Greedfall arpund 79-81. DMC V and Outer Wilds(Kotaku but they're trash) may win on some sites. KH3 was kinda disappointing. Maybe Star Wars Fallen Order? Although it hasn't looked impressive. Days Gone hasn't been really liked by critics.

Gears 5 has to compete with Borderlands 3 as much as I like Gears of War I am going with Borderlands 3 as my first choice game to buy.

It looks like more of the same tbh. Loved 1. Loved 2. Liked 3. Didn’t play judgment and didn’t like 4. It doesn’t look like it’s really changing up much of anything. Not that is a bad thing, it just got stale for me years ago. The gunplay isn’t particularly great outside the gnasher.

I hope it is! Gears of war 5 looks amazing and there’s no doubt the gears 5 custom console is straight up fire. I don’t really need another Xbox one X but it’s too good looking for me to pass on. I really do think gears 5 will be an amazing game though. Rod Ferguson doesn’t make bad games plain and simple. One of the best in the business and a really nice guy. Talked to him a few times at e3 and he’s always very gracious with the fans. You gotta root for good people like him

I'm guessing it'll be a high quality title, a great entry to the franchise. For people who are fans of the series it'll give tons of content and hours of fun. BUT.....

.....given the fact it can't stray too far from what it's done before, and that what it's done before is no longer particularly amazing, I don't see how it will 'wow' multi-plat people to the point it's the GOTY.

Well it has been an underwhelming year for games so any game could win really. Dmc5, RE2, BL3, death stranding seem more likely. Heck maybe even modern warfare if the singleplayers great.

Here's what we can expect from review for why this game will fail and get scored a 7
If multiplayer is awesome then you can expect the story to be bash because unlike Zelda, in this game Story, will be the main factor to judge the game (even if it has couch coop, countless mode and great multiplayer) just like they did with the Gears4 review.

IF Story is awesome then expect the multiplayer to be bash with similar to gears 4, unbalanced, issues Microtransaction, etc.

IF all is great and perfect we can thrust the good ole its time to innovate the formula and the game is beating old drums just like Call of Duty.

Short story, no matter how great this game could be it already been judged a 7 by the media (just like Days Gone was before release).

Why though? It's not reinventing the wheel. The writing might be better? I don't know, but that wouldn't make it GOTY. It's gonna be more duck and cover as you fight waves and waves of enemies. I'm sure at times it will branch off into special sections that have you doing unique things like climbing a wall, going up an elevator, vehicle based missions, but I bet it won't be anything we haven't seen before. I do like that they went with a female lead this time though to change it up a bit, but at the end of the day it's gonna be more Gears.

I haven't seen anything this that makes it even come close to being GOTY. Then again I have only tried the test a few weeks ago. Maybe the story will actually be decent this time around? Yet somehow I doubt it. It's probably going to be a decent entry into the tired series though.
