Don’t buy into PS5 and Project Scarlett hype yet

For now, it’s probably best to just sit back and look forward to what the next generation may bring without being swept away by thoughts of face-melting consoles that can go toe-to-toe with enthusiast-level gaming PCs.

All I want is the next level of Sony in house exclusives including more great VR experiences. And, the top developers they support based on their track record of delivering and not just promising. It's not about hype. It's about TRUST. They earned it.

We all know Sony starts slow. But when that explosion of games start flowing, you better get out of the way of the avalanche of good games that are coming your way.

You also may become broke from trying to buy them all.

Couldn't have said it better.

Unspoken1767d ago

There are more than capable gaming systems out now via PC. 4K 60fps, Dolby Atmos/DTS:X, SSD/Storage, Hi Res VR. And it's even sweeter with Game Pass for PC. Neither PS5 nor Scarlet have indicated they will be more than just incremental versions of what is currently delivered by consoles now. Would like to see new tech in consoles to help push gaming to new heights.

@Unspoken,

I think you missed the point.

Silly gameAr1766d ago

@Unspoken

I'll play games, you play tech.

rainslacker1767d ago

All I care about is the games. System hype is good when you have something to be hyped up about beyond the specs.

killswitch801766d ago

Agree, I am at core a hardcore PC gamers but I follow the games so I own a PS4 and a Switch all because of exclusives.

Eonjay1767d ago

The power is worth getting excited about too because we are now dealing with a huge upgrade on the CPU end. Both the Pro and X had GPUs bottlenecked by incredibly poor Jaguar processors.

60FPS is basically a given for both consoles. We wont get many comparisons where a game is 30 on console and 60 on PC.

rdgneoz31767d ago

The loading times they showed for Spider-man was very very nice. Backwards compatabile and playing with PS4 people is always fun.

SheenuTheLegend1766d ago

yes and me too somehow felt a downgrade of cpu from ps3 gen to ps4 gen from 3.2ghz to 1.8ghz. i know that core speed is not everything but it still matters.

RizBiz1767d ago

I'd really like to see a wireless PS VR.

Tapani1767d ago (Edited 1767d ago )

I haven't bought into the hype itself, because I'm fine with RTX 2070 level performance. I'm expecting 3x the power of PS4 Pro, although the traditional TFLOPS metrics will be around 8.5 - 9.5 from current 4.2. While I've had an SSD in my Pro from day one (made a big difference), it wasn't designed around it so I'm expecting even better performance there. And the CPU should finally allow us to get decent physics, higher frame rates and essentially bigger worlds.

I'd be prepared to pay 600-700usd for a Pro console from the beginning just so that I don't have to buy a gaming PC, or another console 3 years in the cycle. My thinkpad on a 4K tv works great for browsing (social media, news, online banking / purchases, investments management etc.) and listening music and so on. I actually like having a second screen when someone else is using the big screen, so laptop + PS5 will be the way to go!

Potnoodle9991766d ago

Lol exactly. I enjoy buying a console and knowing I have that Sony level of quality assurance 😂 it’s so much more relaxing! Can’t imagine how annoyed I’d bought only an xone this gen as personally with my gaming tastes I would have been so angry with the lack of exclusives...

Once I see Horizon Zero dawn 2, GOW2, Spider-Man 2, Days Gone 2 I'm buying a PS5 with no hesitation. Either one of those games are system sellers for me. Sony might even surprise us with another good new IP.

Shane Kim1767d ago

They most likely will. They always have.

nucky641767d ago

i'm hoping for bloodborne 2 as a launch title. hey, if i'm going to dream - dream big!

UltraNova1767d ago (Edited 1767d ago )

Don't hold your breath on that. FromSoftware is so deep in Elden Ring slated for next year that there are rumors Sekiro wont be getting any DLC let alone a BB sequel.

nucky641766d ago

ultra, none of us know the development schedule for From - they could be making both. i can't believe they're only working on ER and ONLY when they get that done would they start something else. it's very possible bloodborne2 is being worked on - the game was too successful for sony to just forget about it.

UltraNova1766d ago (Edited 1766d ago )

True but history tells us that if From had DLC plans we we've known so far. That said I will direct you to Miyazaki's latest interview where he emphasized ER's size and scope, that aludes to From being hands on in full with their latest game.

As for BB 2 and Sony's wish to put out a sequel, needless I remind you that Japan Studio might be willing to help but its From that's going to do the lions share work on it.

Don't get me wrong I crave a sequel to BB more than anyone but the signs are against it for the time being.

DaGR8JIBRALTAR1767d ago

I'm buying day one...it's Sony.

Hardiman1767d ago

This has been my favorite gen and as soon as PS5 is available for preorder I'm there. That's what I've done since I became an adult. The fact that PS5 is BC so I can catch up on my backlog during thd early years is welcome and by the time I'm through a good chunk we'll be seeing HZD2, GOW2, Spider-Man 2 and any new IP Sony delivers. That's not even counting PSVR. How can you not be hyped?!?!

When companies deliver the goods its 👌🏻 to be hyped!

purple1011767d ago

had a SONY VAIO PRO 13 LAPTOP, for 5 years, *****with SSD*****, - trust me, the hype is real.

purple1011767d ago

edit- this baby had naitive pcie, M.2 SSD, before they were even released into other laptops.

I expect PS5 to have similar new wizardry and blow past current standards.

indysurfn1767d ago

Good memory recall. I remember that too after you reminded me.
