The Swedish telecom company Ericsson said Thursday that they will sell their 50-per cent stake in mobile phone joint venture Sony Ericsson to Sony for 1.05 billion euros (US$1.47 billion). Rumors of this acquisition have been around for some time already.
“Sony will acquire Ericsson’s 50 per cent stake in Sony Ericsson… making the mobile handset business a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony,” Ericsson said in a statement.
Sony's preorder routine is slightly different this time around.
