Chrysler Oculus Rift Experience Builds a Car Around Viewer

VRFocus: Virtual reality (VR) head-mounted displays (HMD) have proved to be something of a hit with car manufacturers. Last month Abarth revealed a digital tour of its factory in Turin, Italy using the Oculus Rift HMD and just last week Volvo showcased a virtual test drive using the Google Cardboard HMD. Now it’s Chrysler’s turn to reveal a VR promotional experience, in which viewers will have one of the company’s cars built around them.


Going Further on the Same Tank

Chrysler is unveiling a way to squeeze more fuel efficiency out of existing gasoline engines, adopting a technology pioneered by Fiat, which controls Chrysler. The effort represents the latest strategy by automakers to meet federal standards that require an automotive fleet to get an average of 35.5 miles per gallon by 2016.
