Kinect, for the most part, is pretty neat. While it’s enjoyable to dance around in front of your TV, my favorite part is being able to “Minority Report” the menus. I feel so cool, demoing that. Now, PrimeSense, the company behind the motion control tech on the Kinect are bringing that experience to the PC with what they call WAVI Xtion.
9To5Mac: PrimeSense, the company behind the original Microsoft Kinect’s technology, is in acquisition talks with Apple, somewhere near a valuation in the $280-300M range.
Well hot damn.... this'll be interesting. Tim Cook has been maintaining course decently. he's at helm, and he's not lost.
Engadget - Though we wrote about it last month, PrimeSense is showing off its Capri sensor for the first time at CES 2013. As a refresher, the Capri is about ten times smaller than the company's existing 3D-sensing chip, which incidentally make up the guts of Microsoft's Kinect.
Engadget: ASUS may not be anywhere close to ready for its Wavi Xtion to hit retail shelves (we're hearing Q2 of 2012), but that didn't stop our brethren over at Engadget Spanish from stopping by for a hands-on demonstration at CES.
