They have no choice, but to release these cards, because they’ve given AMD free reign to completely dominate the low and mid range market as soon as they decided to stop production of the GTX 1000 series to force those looking for upgrades to go with RTX 2000.

AMD has the 570, 580, and 590 ranging from $150 - $250 and offering the best price : performancethus overall value. These cards are likely to remain the best value for as they are expected to drop to $120 (570), $150 (580), and $199 (590).

Once the 1060s run out, AMD is indeed poised to rule the midrange roost. And the crypto gold rush ended with so many proverbial pickaxes littering the landscape. I couldn't be happier. Nvidia need to get brought down a peg or two, remember how to treat their real, loyal customers.

We'll see whether these "1160" cards come about or not. I won't put any stock in unsubstantiated rumors.

NVIDIA is really banking on DLSS to make the 1100 and 2000 series GPUs pull a performance turnaround since RTX simply isn't ready, and won't be until NVIDIA rolls out their 7nm GPUs.

The 2060 should perform above a 1070 in standard games, and closer to a 1070 Ti with DLSS.

The big question is whether the 1100 series will have DLSS. If not we're looking at enhanced versions of their 1000 series counterparts. If they do, then NVIDIA might be able to pull this all around as long as they push DLSS hard for developer implementation.

Without it the 1160 and 1150 are basically equivalent to GTX 980 Ti and GTX 780's. But with it, they can push above their weight class and match Vega, but again it depends on how well DLSS is implemented.
