LOL! People who fall for this crap deserve it.
Get of the internet, you're not smart enough for it.

redrum062553d ago

Such a smartypants you are.

SunnyZ2553d ago

No not really smartypants.
I just using common sense.

Should I click this link and blindly enter in my credit card information?
Nah probably not, doesn't seem like a good idea.

wooooow u are smart !
not everyone spends their entire life online and many people aren't internet savvy doesnt mean they are not smart...

SunnyZ2553d ago

So if some random person came up to you in the street and said, "hey I'm from netflix, please give me your credit card or your account will be terminated" You would just hand it over?

No, you wouldn't... Same goes for online, if you use your brain and a little common sense it's impossible to get scammed.

@SunnyZ I'd argue that those are too different to compare. In person you can obviously see this is a person who doesn't work for Netflix, and why would they be approaching you in person?

Where as online, to someone who's not computer savvy, they see an email from what they believe is Netflix and they like their Netflix account they're probably going to put in their card info innocently thinking they're reactivating their account or something.

It's easy for an older person, or really anyone who doesn't work with a computer or follow up on basic cyber security to be fooled. It doesn't make them unintelligent, just really ignorant and naive. I'm sure if there were a situation you weren't well versed in, people would look at you the same way but they'd also be wrong if they accused you of being dumb when really it's just ignorance.

@sunny
i agree with you.

emails have been out for a long time now and im sure everyone knows by now not to follow links from an email especially if its asking for confidential information.
nobody follows links from email regarding there banking matters so why should it be different for any other site.
if such an email lands in your box, best to query it directly via said website.

now unless you in your late 70s, the above should be common sense at this point.
