Oculus: ‘Life is too short to be that angry about anything, let alone a consumer electronic product’

VRFocus: It’s no secret that the Oculus Rift has had some teething problems when it comes to fulfilling consumer orders. What appears to be a staggeringly small number of pre-order customers have received their head-mounted display (HMD) from Oculus VR, with the company blaming ‘unexpected component shortages’ for the delay. Today however, the head of the company’s Head of Customer Support has offered a warning for those who are abusive to Oculus VR employees with relation to this delay.

Fair play for them to stand up and say they're not going to put up with any abuse but at the same time its another indication of Oculus not really getting things right when dealing with the Internet.

You know what, I disagree with that statement. Not because it isn't true, but because that statement can be use to dismiss negative feedback or a product being defective.

How about saying this: Life is too short waste consumers time by making a product that doesn't deliver on it's promising. You can switch that phrase around to mean anything. Rather than being dismissive of potential consumers, even belligerent ones, I would prefer them to come out and let the consumers know they have their feedback and will do the best to correct these issues going forward. You know, be professional instead of dismissing a customer's complaints.

I would feel more angry about the lense burning.

of course people are going to be upset about a failure launch. same thing goes with htc thrive and the limited stock. threats, abuse and harassment should never be tolerated though

A lot of gamers' have frustration, entitlement issues that border on the extreme.

Guess the age of narcissistic tendencies in this fast pace computer era is quickly showing it's color.

Sony needs to learn from this and start preparing for the massive holiday push. They're in a prime position to learn from other's mistakes.

They put themselves in prime position partly by holding off so long. PSVR was supposed to get a huge push last E3 - to the point the whole industry was waiting for it and then they put it off. They've had the benefit as you say of watching and tailoring what they offer based on their competitors.
