Apple CEO Tim Cook says virtual reality is not niche, ‘has some interesting applications’

During Apple's first quarter 2016 earnings call today, Apple CEO Tim Cook shared his thoughts on virtual reality.
When asked if the technology is a “geeky niche or something that can go mainstream” during a Q-and-A, Cook cautiously answered: “In terms of virtual reality, um, no I don’t think it’s a niche. I think … it’s really cool and has some interesting applications.”

Haha Yeah, it seems like everyone is trying to get into the virtual reality game as of late. Apple has dominated quite a few other tech markets, maybe they'll take hold of the VR game too.

The biggest issues they face is people have patents ahead of Apple and there are so many with a headstart on a physical product ready (or nearly ready) for retail. It won't stop them though.

I see what you're saying. Although Apple dominated the smart phone game from the beginning, Samsung and Windows still were pretty solid. I can totally see Apple being successful with Virtual Reality as well, whether they are actually number 1 or one of the top dogs.
