Can gaming & tech rewire the way kids see the world?

MWEB GameZone writes: Digital tools and devices are second nature to any child born in the last 5 - 10 years. So what does this mean for our children as the current tech develops and expands even more rapidly than it did a few years ago?

I think it definitely can. VR and especially MS's Hololens could become such a big teaching tool as well. Very amped to see how things start to change. In some cases, like shown by the author, it already has.

VR will definitely make an big impact for sure as experiencing these technology will help them remember the things visually.

It has before - I remember in school going to the computer lab and being introduced to the 'internet' and we had to do a report on random country using only the internet.

My country was South Korea and believe it or not the own country's website was still under construction!

HanCilliers3005d ago

Wow, hard to believe there was a time like that.

Stringerbell3004d ago

Yeah especially now since S. Korea is pretty much the top dog when it comes to internet speeds and accessibility.

I still remember what the page looked like too - some little caricature of a cookie with a construction hat on on giving a peace sign lol

Games have definitely left an impact on the kids mind and it will continue to be, so it's better you choose carefully what your kids are playing.

RetrospectRealm3005d ago

It doesn't necessarily mean they will use VR to play games. Like someone else said, it can be used as a teaching tool. Or even in the workplace for construction. See what a building will look like as if you were right in front of it.

gizmig3005d ago

I didn't mean that they will particularly use VR only though it can be used as one of the option.

RetrospectRealm3005d ago

Even so, what does choosing what games your child plays even have to do with the article?

HanCilliers3005d ago

Maybe 'cause the medium can do harm just as it can do good?

WizzroSupreme3005d ago

They sure can and they already do. Art is only a reflection of life, after all.

RetrospectRealm3005d ago

What do you mean they already do? Barely anyone actually owns a VR headset. They're only now getting into common vocabulary.

gizmig3005d ago

I don't think they already have a VR as it is a new thing and one can't afford to get their kids try it.

RetrospectRealm3005d ago

They're barely able to afford iPads for kids in some schools these days. Not sure where Wizzro lives, but it sounds like heaven if the kids use VR headsets there.
