DVD Screener Leaks Are Not Free Promotion, Hollywood Says

The CEO of the Copyright Alliance, which counts the MPAA and major Hollywood studios among its members, has weighed in on the leaking of DVD screeners to the Internet. Describing release group Hive-CM8's subsequent apology as "self serving", Keith Kupferschmid says the idea that piracy represents free promotion is false and ill-informed.

No matter how you look at it, releasing a movie that people invested money and time to make for free is not OK

I agree. Whats sort of funny about the torrentfreak user base is that many of them tend to be in denial as to what they are doing or endorsing. Copyright law sucks, tactics used by the MPAA and RIAA sucks too. However if I am going online and pirating material that I would have access to in my region to legitimately purchase, but I dont want to pay for it, I'm a thief. You could rationalize it to yourself but a call a spade a spade.
