Yesterday Walt and I took an hour to just wander the CES 2016 central hall, to see the sights and paw at the gadgets. Even though you have to plow through the crowds and the dissembling of PR representatives to get to the good stuff, it's almost always worth it. And when you get to do it with Walt Mossberg, even the most boring booth turns into a chance to learn a little more about how this insane industry actually works and where it's going. And when Walt gets stopped so somebody can pitch him something (which happens approximately every three minutes), you get a chance to catch up on email.
Under CEO Tim Cook, the company has found some answers and flourished financially, but it hasn’t been without a few wrong turns and big changes to the very nature of its business.
