It might be a wonder + luxury both, but it certainly out of my reach. I mean $55,000, com'on!

No doubt Sennheiser builds a lot of great sounding headphones but new Orpheus HE1060 will be bought mainly for collection/appreciation purposes I believe.

Just look at first Orpheus HE90 which started at around $15,000 and is now fetching up to more than twice the amount.

that is definitely what popped up in my mind when I first heard of it.

Funny is people do forget how sound is captured, with regular membranes on mic’s like the Shure SM58 superbeta, or AKG’s studio mic or even some Sennheiser shotgun, then the sound travels inside .10cent/meter klotz cable, I’ve seen the most stupid audiophiles discussing cables because this or that costs 1000€/meter, when they have regular cd’s or even master cd’s that were recorded like I’ve stated above, expecting the zillion€ stereo to reproduce what wasn’t recorded in the first place. Yes, this phone are art, they are not for the regular of us and they do need to cost 55k to some another stupid audiophile say they have the crown of headphones. Btw, planar electrostatic speakers are here for ages, and they always sucked, because.. well.. they can’t vibrate under 1000hz, guess where the bass is. Good product ,yes, expensive, yes, If I had the money to buy one, I would? Nope. Got better for 3 zeros less.

Thank you. I can’t begin to count how many people I’ve had to talk down from thinking Martin Logan electrostatic speakers are the greatest thing ever. They’re good for some things, but as you said, electrostatic speakers literally cannot reproduce the full acoustic range.

That is why they also have normal woofers/transducers and crossovers. The HE90s have a low end ext of 14hz.

Overpriced as fk, only for extremists that believe that more expensive the better or for rich ass to show off.
