Why is hi-tech Japan using cassette tapes and faxes?

Japan has a reputation for being fascinated by robots and hi-tech gadgets - a nation at the forefront of manufacturing innovation.

But the technological reality in many offices is strikingly different.

I hate faxing things, you'd think this sort of tech would have taken a hike already. But so long as we still use paper documents the fax isn't going anywhere =/

Very true, I think part of that is also down to old proceedures that are still kicking around in offices. That with faxing the document is physically there as opposed to electronically. A losable printout is better is some minds than a missable email.

It's not like that doesn't happen in America too. You know how many times a government office has told me to snail mail or fax something that can easily be emailed? Even some banks or insurance companies stick to it....

I was interning at one business and they wanted me to make fliers for some event. I pulled out my laptop and started using Photoshop, and I was told to not do that.... what? They wanted it done in Word with clipart....

Clipart, you kidding right. That piece of shit software that limit the hell out of you when it came to pictures, or making fliers. So no Publisher or Corell Drawing that's a bummer

Same here in US when it comes to small business using windows xp lol

I was pretty surprised when I went there a few years ago with how backwards they actually were. WiFi was non existant and most places don't even accept credit cards. Nonetheless it is an awesome country, just stuck in the mid 90s.
