Watch a robot 'sculpt' in 3D with nothing but light

The 4 July weekend is traditionally the time in America that millions of people use light (and gunpowder) to create massive, though brief, installations with light, in mid-air.

Artist Ekaggrat Singh Kalsi has come up with something a little more nuanced, but still spectacular enough to go viral online during the Independence Day holiday weekend. Kalsi is an artist who has demonstrated a new system which combines long-exposure light painting and a 3D printer to produce three-dimensional colour objects sculpted out of LED lights.
