VRFocus: Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA), Sony Pictures Entertainment, and IMAX Corporation have today announced a collaboration on a new virtual reality (VR) experience, Can You Walk the Walk?. Putting you right out onto a high-wire walk between the towers of the World Trade Center in 1974, the demo will be presented on Project Morpheus as a promotional activity for the forthcoming Joseph Gordon-Levitt motion-picture, The Walk.
Former Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and PSVR man discusses cars with the German manufacturer.
VRFocus reports on that news that Sony Computer Entertainment has merged with Sony Network Entertainment to make Sony Interactive Entertainment.
If Sony are going to start reshaping the business to this degree that's great news for PSVR fans.
I really hope they do, unlike the Playstation Move which got almost no backing from Sony. It's all about that price sweet spot if this will do well or not.
Keeping the future in mind Sony is playing a smart move by focusing on VR playstation.
Inb4 Sword Art Online becomes a reality someday. Let's just hope we don't get trapped in the game. Hahaha
The Oculus Rift is too expensive and lacking in must-have games, UK stores have warned.
But VR is an exciting new area for the global games market and, in time, Oculus Rift could still emerge as the market leader.
"no-one has shown a game that works" - Are you kidding me? Which retail chain said that?? There's already loads out for the Gear VR, Sony has been showing of games all over the place as a major part of all their shows for the last 4 months. Oculus have shown games off, there are all sorts on VR Share and the store already has many examples the big names of which have all been at trade shows for the past 6-12 months.
Maybe retail outlets need to go beyond the usual customers' and send flyers/post on their websites the various use of VR-tech to attract the engineering, military, medical community.
Someone in the retail sector needs to post a valid video example that VR isn't just for gaming.
£500 is a LOT of money for the average consumer (you could probably get a decent spec PC for around that price), one would hope that the price drops fairly soon after release. Just for comparison the PS4 was £349 when it was released.
Obviously people will buy it on release because it's new tech and the fact that it's VR, but whether it will have the staying power at that price? Really too early to tell at the moment I think.
Okay... So, there may not be a killer solely VR game out there, but there are plenty of games already out on PC that can be played. Some of the need a little finagling, but they are playable and enjoyable.
is this going like the E3 announcement of the price point for the x1 and ps4?
will PSVR be cheaper and thus steal the market?
