Microsoft launched the new Surface 3 tablet today. Not to be confused with the more expensive and powerful Surface Pro 3, the Surface 3 is based on the new Intel Atom x7 processor. Also, unlike the Surface 2 before it, the new Surface 3 runs an x86 version of Windows 8.1 (no Windows RT).
If you are a Windows user, and want a really great computer, you should consider Microsoft's Surface line. Not only do they serve as wonderful tablets, but with the keyboard attachment, they can be solid laptops too.
Maximum PC: Microsoft launched its toned down Surface 3 tablet back in May with two introductory models -- a $499 SKU with an Atom x7-Z8700 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage, and a $599 model with the same CPU and twice as much memory (4GB) and storage (128GB). At the time, Microsoft promised to have 4G LTE capable models soon.
Maximum PC: Surface 3 (non-Pro) is Microsoft's thinnest and lightest Surface tablet ever, and it's now available to purchase in the U.S. and several other territories, including Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand. Pricing starts at $499, though you can knock up to $150 off the cost by trading in your Surface 2 or Surface RT, so long as it's in working order.
