Say goodbye to speeding tickets with Ford’s new speed limiting system, which will ensure your vehicle, can never travel faster than the recommended speed limit.
Cool feature! :)
Until theres a dire situation or some crazy event in where you can't speed up even 1 more MPH. There always needs to be an overide feature. ALWAYS
What happens if you need to overtake?
you shouldn't overtake if it is going to make you go over the speed limit, but you get the people that crawl along until you want to overtake then they speed up.
And if you need to speed to avoid an accident?
I genuinely would welcome such features / self driving cars. Living in and driving daily in NYC is akin to the final chase scene in Mad Max 2.
No thank you. I want to be in control of my vehicle. Next they will want the government to be able to automatically disable my private property if my registration is expired.
Are you in control of the airplane or train when you take public transportation?
I am not controlling the vehicle so no. What is your point? You are not going to be able to defend this. I do not use public transportation either. Would you also support implanting microchips into humans to track movements as well? What I do is none of anyone elses business, especially the government who has now has the authority to detain and kill without cause.
"I am not controlling the vehicle so no. What is your point?" the point is the driver is paid to drive in a safe manner. "You are not going to be able to defend this. I do not use public transportation either." i can defend this, watch. if a bus driver is speeding he/she is putting others into jeopardy. same thing with you and your vehicle. "Would you also support implanting microchips into humans to track movements as well?" why do you feel the need to exaggerate to get your point across? nobody cares what you do if it doesn't impact others. we are talking about safety on the roads that others, not just you, travel on. "What I do is none of anyone elses business, especially the government who has now has the authority to detain and kill without cause." first off it is my business how you drive on public roads. second of all skirting the issue by talking about something else isn't adding to this discussion.
Unless you drive a manual as well you just trolling
you do know that at some point these cars will be programmed to kill you. coz one day it'll have to make that decision of "do i swerve to avoid this road accident in front of me but kill 3 people on the sidewalk, or do i drive straight into this accident and only kill the one passenger i have." i doubt any company will program logic that will say "my passengers life is more important than 3 other random people". even if the passenger is a CEO of a multi-billion dollar company and the 3 people on the side walk are homeless. self driving cars, no thank you. if i wanted to leave my life in someone elses hands, id use a taxi.
Isnt that what cruise control is for?
Must admit, I'm not a fan of this. The technology is good as a warning, but I wouldn't go as far as to let it control my speeds unless the entire car drives automatically. If I'm driving, I'm driving.
I've ranted many time about speeders http://www.vancouvertraffic... and as what usually happens, the gloves come off. Ford will lose customers on this idea. It's business and therefore there is NO WAY IN HELL this is happening. I like it, at least for the kids around schools, but it's a PR nightmare.
