It sounded like a throwaway side project from someone who’s never seen a side project he doesn’t like. But it’s a very smart move, and one that’s more central to Musk’s ambitions than it might seem.

The more options for consumers the better. Of course just like the car companies have fought Tesla on the beauty that is the Model S, the utility companies will pour millions as their lobbyists prepare their smear campaigns.
And not just lobbyist garbage, but also government organization will collapse once technology can serve us for livelihood rather depending on outrages cost on utilities and transportation!
Oh yeah, a brand as affordable as Tesla is really going to scare anyone. /s
