Engadget - Here's a question: How did Amazon know it was time to make a $99 tablet? Because of focus groups? Its ace marketing department? Close: user reviews. Let's not forget that Amazon is best known for its retail empire, so when lots of people start buying cheap tablets, the company catches on quickly. And when shoppers start giving them lousy user reviews, well, Amazon notices that too.
So how is it that a 6 inch tablet goes for $99, but 6 inch phones cost $650?
I mean it stands to reason that more goes into the phone, but over six times more?
