One of the best Android launchers just got even better – and you can finally download it

Nokia surprised the mobile community this past summer when the company unveiled its first ever Android app, Z Launcher. With its devices and services business out of the way and its obligations to Microsoft regarding Windows Phone gone, the company wasted no time in embracing Google’s mobile platform.

Z Launcher Review by Gravis Ludus

Gravis Ludus' Carl Williams writes, "Launchers for Android are nearly a dime a dozen. The good ones are the hard ones to get out of the sea of mediocre ones. While Nokia may be the last company you would expect to see release a launcher, they have and it is quite good. Their Z Launcher is clean and easy to use. These are two traits other launchers forget to include in all of their “sci-fi” imagery and unconventional access designs."

Looks to be a nice launcher.

Lol The drawing thing might come in handy, but only if the response time is good. This example draws it slow as hell and the response isn't too fast, but maybe that's so we can see "Oh that's an N and a P".

Yeah, I intentionally drew slow for the video. It is pretty responsive.

RetrospectRealm3030d ago

Alright cool. Thanks for the clarification man. :)

@RetrospectRealm- Your are welcome. Launchers are getting pretty good. Giving things to users that we never thought of rather than more sci-fi scenery and weird access points.

Please let us know what you think if you try out the Z Launcher. It will, surely, help others make a more informed decision.

Pocket-Lint - Z Launcher Beta for Android: Nokia may be onto a winner

Pocket lint - Nokia recently launched its N1 Android tablet, showing the world that the sale of its mobile arm to Microsoft wasn't to be its end. While it agreed not to make phones anymore it is still going to be on smartphones thanks to its own launcher, the Z Launcher.

Nokia was made famous by its easy to use platforms on its earliest mobiles, so why not try that again in a modern launcher context? The Z Launcher is available now in beta for Android, allowing anyone to take advantage of this intelligent home screen that adapts to your phone use.

We've given it a go to see if it really can learn and if it's smart enough to replace our current launcher.

Nokia’s innovative Android launcher gets a huge update and opens up to new users

We called Nokia’s first Android app “wonderfully simple and shockingly innovative” when we gave the world its first look at the sleek Z Launcher app back in June, but the app was only available as a limited pre-beta at the time and Nokia quickly filled all available slots. Well, we have good news and bad news. The good news is that the Z Launcher app just received a major update and opened up to a new wave of pre-beta users at the same time. The bad news, however, is that you can only get in if you had previously signed up for access to the app.
