Stacking solar cells could double energy conversion

We’ve heard of many new technologies that could make solar energy conversion more effective, but most of them are still unfortunately either in the theoretical or laboratory stage and won’t make it to the market for some years, but a new startup in Durham, North Carolina has found a practical solution to doubling solar conversion with present day equipment.

Solar and wind needs to ramp it up and quick before Nuclear Madhatters gets more tax dollars wasted.

If, on a really good week, Germany can produce 50% of its power from solar and Ireland 50% from wind, imagine what solar/wind will be able to do in 5 years. 10 years.

We're talking about power sources with no highly dangerous waste that we have zero disposal plans for, no spills, no smoke stacks...how can anyone without an agenda promote more nuclear, gas, oil, or coal in 2014?

Your quite right, only problem with solar and wind power is the price to power ratio. So hopefully fusion will fix all our problems in 20 years. If ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor) tests goes well in around 2027, I'm sure it will spark interest in fusion power.

Even if Fusion becomes the next big thing "which would be nice" I can't imagine Solar and Wind technology to stop improving?

There will always be advantages to Solar technology, because unlike Fusion your not tied to the grid and it's not like you can walk into a hardware store to buy a Fusion reactor! lol

Solar power, Hydropower, Geothermal, wind can be used on future spaceships as backup power when all else fails, as long as there in the vicinity of a star or planets and as much as I hate coal, Petroleum and other waste creating energy sources it will be useful for extraction on moons and desolate planets as an extra energy source on top of Nuclear power!
