Last week the Wall Street Journal reported that publishers ZeniMax Media claimed intellectual property ( IP ) of the Oculus Rift virtual reality technology. ZeniMax, publishers of games such as the Elder Scrolls, Fallout 3, Doom and many more sent several letters and claims to Oculus VR and Facebook demanding compensation for the product as it was apparently stolen by the Head of id Software John Carmack, as the company is owned by ZeniMax.
Bethesda's exclusivity will decide the fate of Xbox, Deathloop and Ghostwire are in the safe zone. ZeniMax closed a deal of $7.5 billion.
Though the feature will likely not be at launch.
In Kevin Eva's weekly column for VRFocus he looks at OC4, an event that certainly happened. Also the sky turned red - he's positive there's no connection though.
Nice article, don't think it was stolen though. Seems like Zenimax just wants to make some more money
The real question is why now? I think ZeniMax wants a piece of that $$$$$ from facebook acquisition.
