TOKYO (Dow Jones) -- Renesas Electronics rose 10.0% at Y863 following a Nikkei report that Apple is in talks with the Japanese electronics maker to take over a unit, says Hideyuki Ishiguro, senior strategist at investment strategy department at Okasan Securities.
Renesas will focus on its semiconductor business for cars and industrial machines, the report says. Renesas SP Drivers, as the unit is known, designs chips for smartphone displays. The unit's engineering could help improve image sharpness and battery life, the report says.
