The Internet is a “gift from God”, says Pope Francis

Vyralize: Pope Francis has hailed the Internet as a “gift from God“, explaining that it has brought us ‘closer’ together, allowing us to potentially foster beneficial relationships and dialogue to potential reduce the wide gaps between groups who are well-off versus those who are in much need.

Exactly. "The Internet is a 'gift from god.'

Uh, no, DARPA, which invented it, disagrees with you. So does reality. The DARPA, a public entity, at the time created the internet with US tax dollars.

The internet is a very, VERY secular place.

2pacalypsenow2468d ago

God created the people who worked for DARPA And gave them knowledge on how to do it , So God created the internet

people live in the 21st century, 2014...and still believe this nonsense.

They believe in things they never seen without proof and call it faith.
This is called insanity and disillusion.
I am awaiting the day we finally diagnose this condition, because if it was anything other than god that had these traits, we would condemn the person to an asylum.

The peasants, the uneducated, the illiterate of the 21st century are not those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.

If you think "gods" had anything to do with the internet, don't you think they at least would have put the schematics in their holy books?

No. Their holy books don't even have a simple diagram of the solar system, or a map of all the continents on the globe.

How hard would that have been from the "creator of all?" I could go on as to how ignorant of a claim it is that any intelligent being could have "designed" humans, but it has all been debunked ad nauseum.

Now, a montebank comes along and claims that his particular, one, true god, gifted us with something he couldn't conceive of "in the beginning" is laughable.

As an atheist... This offends me...

blackmanone2469d ago (Edited 2469d ago )

As it would all the scientists and coders that worked on it I imagine. You know, the people that chose to educate themselves in the world of science instead of the rhetoric of god.

SilentNegotiator2469d ago

It's not like he said that Jesus descended from the heavens and snapped his fingers to make the internet's just that in his belief system, people are the creation of God and all abilities were a sort of allowance.

If you choose to get angry and create a "F^&*ing RELIGION ^%$#^&%$#^$ SCIENCE SCIENCE SCIENCE!!" comment every time a religious person says something like that, your fingers will go raw.

KwietStorm_BLM2469d ago

No I wasn't, and I don't know why you would ask, as I didn't reply to you, and it doesn't relate to what you said, at all, in any way.

2pacalypsenow2468d ago

You mean the theory's which all science is based on . You don't believe in god/bible cuz it was writen by people you have never met or seen but you believe words written by scientists you have never seen or seen , or science you have never seen

Human brains are biological learning cpu's.

Bible is "data" of humans and dieties of higher power written by humans that predates the internet.

Everything on the internet "data" was placed there by humans including the bible.

Today humans still place there faith in various things other then god as happened in the bible.

Never ending story till you

a. meet god.
b. place your faith in god.
C. There maybe other options, my brain doesn't like

Footnote there are many dialects, languages, im pretty sure god has more then one name.

Thus the conflict with one faith of humans clashing with the other.

Sort of like how an operating system for one machine does not work on another unless an emulator/translation is made.

Basically higher being = creator

Creators, creations are gifted become more complex learn different languages.... confuse each other to distance one another, then come back together again on teh webs to enlighten and/or confuse each other again.

Glory be to god imho

Internet atheism...

You probably saw a Dawkins seminar on Youtube or something and were suddenly so "enlightened" as to be offended by the very thought of dissenting belief.

There are, in fact, well-respected intellectuals that still choose to believe in a higher power.

You are not Justin Timberlake, or I might consider it

blackmanone2469d ago (Edited 2469d ago )

How very educated of a response... Were you trying to prove my point?

ProjectVulcan2469d ago

Thank god for all

SilentNegotiator2469d ago

lol, I couldn't help but laugh when I saw this because the first thing I imagined was a celibate icon enjoying the internet for something particular.

bigrob9042469d ago

i agree with you. this is why i hate religion, man makes incredible achievement imaginary god gets credit. this kind of thing pisses me off.

a_squirrel2468d ago

You clearly don't understand what saying "gift from God" means. It doesn't mean it made it, it means it's something AMAZING - like something God would make.

You people are jumping to conclusions like it's the olympics.

pompombrum2469d ago

Imagine what it's like for doctors/surgeons, they work potentially for hours to save lives then the people they save go and thank god for still being alive.

SilentNegotiator2468d ago

I'm pretty sure people thank the doctors that save their lives, too. I've never heard of someone after surgery saying "thank God I'm alive!" and then turning to the doctor and saying "whadya want? A medal? Piss off, Doc". They're thinking of the elements outside of the doctor's control.

This is what's wrong with the world. People let the views and opinions of others offend them.
