Ian DeMartino of Segment writes "Good news for iOS, Windows Phone and Blackberry users, bad news for Android fans. 99% of mobile malware software targets the Android platform.
The news comes from Cisco’s 2014 Annual Security Report, the malicious code most often found its way onto users’ devices through SMS messages or by impersonating legitimate apps on non official marketplaces. Worse still, 71% of Android users have encountered some form of web-based malware. By comparison, 17% of all iPhone users encounter web based malware.
The silver lining in this is that mobile based malware only makes up 1.2% of all malware. Unfortunately, it is also an emerging sector and a logical place for cyber criminals to attack."
