Space probe awakes to study comet it has chased for a decade

Vyarlize: "Rosetta, Europe’s comet-chasing probe has phoned home after 31 months of hibernation. The robot sent a signal back to Earth at 18:17 GMT on Monday, reaching controllers in Germany. Mission engineers monitored consistently throughout the day to hear from the device to confirm it is still in operation."

Huge win for the ESA if it manages to just make the rendezevous let alone the landing. That would be quite incredible to pull off.

The math involved is staggering. They have to be exact, down to the what, billionth decimal? The slightest calculation and they're a million miles off. Crazy.
