Facebook cracking down on memes and putting more attention on high quality articles

Vyralize: Facebook will be introducing yet another major tweak to how stories are displayed on users’ newsfeeds. They are putting much more emphasis on high quality articles by tracking how often you click, share, or like articles posted by friends. If the algorithm determines that you are more interested in these types of articles, it will filter out the more low-quality posts such as links to memes not hosted on Facebook (e.g. links to Livememe, Memecenter, etc.)

Why the hell cant Facebook leave the news feed alone. It wasn't broken befor but it is now and now they are making it even more broken.

They will keep changing it as long as teenage girls and older folks continue to accept it like sheep. Once these demographics begin to drop off then and only then will they realize their errors. But it will be to late.

Hopefully that happens sooner rather than later. FB is like a plague. All their hideous design choices seem to find their way into all other social networking sites. youtube's changes are the most recent.

And top make things worse the majority female demographic continues to ensure microtranscations and other money grabbing schemes will continue to dominate.

Edit: Snapchat is slowly gaining ground but like fb, it is a female demographic that is behind the growth it won't be long before the money grabbers are on that as well.

Once PS4 allows to upload directly to Youtube or direct to USB then I'm done with fakebook...

This is what happens when a social network goes public and realizes that there are no more modest ways to make profit. Don't worry, Twitter will follow Facebook and Youtube/Google and ruin their interface in favor of partners as well.

AM I the only one who is for this? Tired of seeing memes in my news feed, especially 9GAG.

awiseman4120d ago

You use that site? I stopped using it socially ages ago. I get more ads than actual friend updates. I use it as a news feed now, And Twitter is fast replacing it.

Speed-Racer4120d ago

Well I have AdBlock so ads were never an issue for me. Yea I use Twitter mostly these days as well.

Ad block blocks newsfeed ads?

imXify4120d ago

No you're not. I can't even go on FB at school anymore because it's just a bunch of memes mixed with now NSFW stuffs.

I would love seeing more quality articles as well because recently I got used to visit N4G, Techspy and Anime Shinbun daily to read articles on breaks.
