AMD Radeon R9 290x Graphics Card Gets Listed in Newegg for $729.99

Initially there were four R9 290x listed namely: ASUS Radeon R9 290X X9290X-DC2T-4GD5, MSI Radeon R9 290X 4GD5, SAPPHIRE Radeon R9 290X 100361SR and XFX Radeon R9-290X ENFC. The items were still in a “Pre-Release Coming Soon” status, but when you inspect the HTML code of the page, the final price of the AMD Radeon R9 290X were revealed as $729.99. Unfortunately, by the time I read about the news and checked the page, Newegg already changed the code price to $9999.99."

yes I think newegg already edited it. so I was not able to confirm it personally. But other tech sites was able to see the $729.99 price before they have edited it.

Yes a few different sources were able to confirm the $729.99 price. Why would Newegg change it to $9999.99 though? If they didn't want us to know the real price why wouldn't they just change the HTML code to $0 instead of $9999.99.

Either way this doesn't look good for AMD. If they want to compete with Nvidia they need their flagship gpu to come in at $599. Anything higher and most people would pick the gtx 780 over the 290x just for the drivers alone not to mention physx and a soon coming Nvidia price drop.

The $1000 Titan shouldn't even be compared but for the whiners it will be dropped in price to $699 most likely. A bit more than the R9 290x but similar or slightly better FPS with a much better performing vapor chamber heatsink. Oh and better drivers but that goes without saying.
