BlackBerry to retreat from consumer market, lay off 4,500 employees

The Verge- As rumored earlier this week, BlackBerry is to lay off 4,500 employees, around 40 percent of its workforce, and retreat from the consumer market. The layoff news comes in an unexpected early earnings guidance release, in which the struggling manufacturer reveals it expects to book losses totalling almost $1 billion in the most recent quarter.

They don't sell too well here where I work. I'm at a respectable cellular company and I've gotta say since the new phones, I've sold 1.....and that was to a customer demanding it. Other than that, I don't even think I've seen anyone else sell one. Such a shame.

bb were just way too slow to adapt to the changing market and needs. the company was an absolute beast back in the day so it really is a shame this is happening.

Facebook and BlackBerry are heading to court over voice messaging patents

There’s a new battle commencing between Facebook and BlackBerry. On Tuesday, the social network sued the phone maker over alleged infringement of six patents. Of these, one is related to a voice message feature in BBM Enterprise.
