Ars Technica- Gabe Newell, the co-founder and managing director of Valve, said today that Linux is the future of gaming despite the minuscule share of the market it has today.
Gaming is the only thing keeping me with Windows.
Once the steam box is announced, development on linux will explode.
I really hope so. :) Can't wait to put Elementary OS to good use. http://elementaryos.org/
I highly doubt that. Linux still lacks drivers that Windows has and Publishers make most of their money on the Windows platform. Linux doesn't have enough market shares to justify publishers spending extra money to develop or even port their games to Linux. Majority Steam games doesn't support Linux so most users aren't willing to make the switch.
I hope this means photoshop for linux if linux blows up! Down with Windows and xbone.
I respect Gabe more than most in the industry, but this time I feel his disdain for Microsoft is clouding his judgement.
Linux? It has most support then it used to. But as for being gaming's no.1, i really doubt it.
PS4 have Linux :) thank you sony
PS4 uses a modified version FreeBSD that similar to Linux. Similar to Linux=/= Linux
That's a good news..
A bold statement if there ever was one.
A statement that sick is enough to sedate a family of bricks.
