FalconUAV Supports Colorado Flooding Until Grounded By FEMA

DIY Drones- There's been some terrible, terrible flooding going on in Colorado. Rain is still falling, making it difficult (or impossible) for airplanes and helicopters to get in and out of the area. Drones can fly, though, and while they're not able to pick up people or drop off supplies, they are able to make damage assessment maps to help relief agencies coordinate their efforts. Or at least, they were, until the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) showed up and grounded them.

FEMA grounds private drone company volunteering their real time mapping services

Vyralize: After a week of major flooding in Boulder, Colorado, Falcon UAV offered their support to map the affected areas to assist with recovery efforts. They were doing it on a completely voluntary basis, only to be shut down by FEMA.

When has FEMA done anything right? New Orleans still leaves a bad taste in everyones mouth.

And whose the smart guy who says lets spend a crap load of money on jet fuel for the helicopters with cameras when we got littel drones that will do it for free. Typical...
