Unlike Yahoo's new Logo, this looks quite good.
Can't go wrong with taking the same logo and just using plain type font. A common somewhat sterile trend lately.
Flat design is in at the moment. Google are moving to an actual flat design style whereas Apple seem to have gone semi-flat. Google's guidelines: http://www.behance.net/gall...

The only reason Google changed it because they didn't want to have bevel like Yahoo's font.
Open file, remove bevel, save
And earn 50.000$.
